About the Event

Gual Keren - a daughter of Keren.

For this supper club we are delighted to be joined by Eritrean-British writer Hannah-Azieb Pool, author of My Fathers' Daughter, a powerful memoir of race, identity and belonging which tells the story of Hannah-Azieb's return to Eritrea to meet her birth family.

Hannah-Azieb's remarkable book is back in print again this year as part of the Penguin series 'Black Britain: Writing Back' and we're thrilled to have her join us to give a very special reading.  Alongside this, we're serving a five-course menu of modern Eritrean dishes that reflect both Hannah-Azieb's and our journey from Eritrea, and pay homage to 'Gual Keren' - the daughters of the beautiful city of Keren.

The ticket price includes a welcome drink but otherwise, the venue is BYOB.  There will be vegetarian or vegan options available, but please do let us know you require them when booking.

The evening will start at 7.30 sharp.  Please don't be late as we all eat together x

*Please note – menu subject to change due to the unpredictability of supply in these covid/Brexit times

  • Cancellations / refund policy:

We budget for the number of tickets sold meaning last-minute refunds can have a huge impact on us, so refunds are not issued unless 7 days before the event or we can sell on the cancelled ticket.

If you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to reassign your ticket to another guest, but we cannot guarantee a refund if the request comes less than a week before the event.

  • Vegan / vegetarian options:

Vegan/vegetarian options are available, but we need to know at the time of booking. If you require one of these options, please get in touch via the Contact page immediately after booking.

  • COVID 19:

Please note, although we do not require evidence of vaccination or a negative lateral flow test, we will do a quick temperature check of all guests on arrival with one of those snazzy infrared thermometers.

The venue space is a single room with a long table that seats 9 on either side, so it will not be possible to social distance - if you have concerns about being in a space like this then please do not book.

Once you have booked, please contact us immediately if you test positive before the event.
